SGSL family and friends, I am passing along the following message in hopes of extending some much-needed support to our neighboring community. Thoughts and prayers to Morgan and the Amyot family.
~Mike

Hello Everyone,

One of our Little Leaguers received some devistating news recently.  Morgan Amyot, 14 was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer shortly after playing in the Junior League Softball Tournament earlier in July.  By all accounts, she appeared to be a strong, healthy child.  She loves softball and has played in little league since she was 5 or 6 years old.
In an effort to provide her with the support of her surrounding community, we are holding a family-style softball tournament in her name on Saturday, August 19th from Rockwell Park in Bristol. Children and adults of all ages are encouraged to attend and play ball together.  This is a non-competitive, family-style experience. All donations and funds raised will go to her and her family to help with medical expenses.  More importantly, we want to show the child that her local community cares for her well being. This isn't about money. It's about care and support.
Please see attached flyer for details.  Your participation would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure Morgan will be touched to see her teamates and players from surrounding towns on the field on Saturday.  She's a good kid, and she's putting up a strong fight.
If nothing else, be sure to give your own child an extra hug today.

Thank you all,

Adam Whitlock

Calling all Softball Fans...SGSL Needs You!

Southington Girls Softball League is made up largely of volunteers, and the operation of the league is comprised of many activities that take place 'behind the scenes'. Did you know that we have:

  • A Field Maintenance Committee to keep our 10 playing fields - dedicated solely to Southington girls in grades K-12 - in a good and safe condition;
  • Various pre-season Organization Committees;
  • A Concession Stand Committee to help in the operation of our main source of income;
  • A Fundraising Committee,
  • An End of Season celebration Committee,
  • Charity tournaments Committees,
  • and much more.

All of this activity is done for the benefit of all our girls by volunteers. SGSL is one of the finest, if not the finest, facility within the state of Connecticut, dedicated to girls' softball. Comments validating this have been made year after year by coaches and officials both within and outside of the Town of Southington. However, none of this happens without your help.

It's true that everyone has a busy schedule these days, but just a few hours of your time can be an invaluable contribution to both the league and to our girls' total experience of the sport. So please, ask any of our Executive Board members how you can get involved and take pride in knowing that your contribution helped to make treasured memories on these fields for your young girl to last a lifetime.

On behalf of the  SGSL Executive Board, thank you,

Mike Konopka
President, Southington Girls Softball League

Concussion Education Plan

The Town of Southington has made available this document which contains important information that all parents should have access to for the safety of each girl playing softball.  This form will also be available for parents to take during in-person registration sessions.
